We help you find and apply to the best American summer camp, boarding school, college and graduate program for your child

What We Do

We help native Chinese middle-, high-school, and university students and their parents find the best educational programs in the United States, by providing independent, high-quality counseling services.

High-quality, independent services for students and their parents

We focus on helping native Chinese children aged 10 – 26 years old. These students are looking for reputable:

  • Summer programs of 2-5 weeks in July and August, typically with an academic focus.
  • High school exchange programs for a semester or for a year.
  • Boarding schools for grades 9 – 12. Very few Chinese students will go overseas to study earlier than that.
  • Undergraduate programs, including both Community Colleges and Four-Year Colleges and Universities.
  • Graduate programs, typically in "business" areas and the hard sciences.

The great majority of our clients do not need financial aid.

We help students and their parents by:

  • Defining their needs
  • Selecting appropriate schools and explaining how we did it
  • Assisting with the application
  • Coaching them through the essay writing process (though we do not write essays for them)
  • Counseling during the decision-making process after getting in
  • Coordinating the visa paperwork and interview
  • Providing pre-departure information about banking, insurance, etc.

Our business model is very simple. Parents pay us a fixed fee for our advice and services. We charge the same amount regardless of how many schools, what types of schools, and whether the application is successful.

In our first six months of operation, we successfully placed Chinese students at CalTech, Johns Hopkins, University of Wisconsin – Madison, University of Oregon, and Saint Louis University. We also helped students attend the Explo Summer Program at Wellesley College and the Brown University summer program.

How we are different

  • We are the only American-founded education placement service provider in China employing American counselors in partnership with experienced Chinese education specialists. Our philosophy is to be transparent, open, and unbiased while providing advice tailored to a specific student’s needs.
  • We do not accept payments from schools. We believe that by doing so, we will find it hard to offer truly independent advice. We will recommend schools that employ agents, provided that the school is a good fit for our client. But we don't ask for, and will refuse, commissions.
  • We insist that students do their own work on applications, especially essays. We spend a lot of time educating them about what an application essay is and how to write one. We also give them feedback on drafts. But unlike most “agents,” we refuse to actually write the essays. We also refuse to write letters of recommendation (a common practice among Chinese “agents”).
  • We operate with full transparency. We strive to give students and their parents high-quality, independent advice about which programs are best for them. Most “agents” in China only present schools and programs they represent, even if this is not good for the student. We believe that students and their parents deserve to know all of the relevant options. We therefore present all programs, not just those that make us more money. Even if we are less profitable, we’ll build a better business in the long-run.

Finally, in case you’re interested…

Many Americans ask about our strange name. “KeMeiXin”, when written in Chinese (可美信),means “we offer trustworthy advice about getting you to America.” The fact that it takes three Chinese characters to express nine English words illustrates how different the two cultures are, and why high-quality advice is so important.
